Yourself or others first?

In my opinion I have always thought of other people first. But, you have to care for yourself to be able to care for others. Well i still would have to say that caring for others that need it most is best. For example, I get my friends and family presents for the holidays with my money that i get for my birthday. I just think that the feeling of giving things to others that need or want things is better than the feeling that you get when someone else gives you something you wanted or needed.
